Corfu - Day Trips and Excursions
While for many the ideal holiday is
lying in the sun around the pool at Rebecca’s Village others like to
see more of the island during their stay.
Here is a list of excursions that can
be booked either with the Reception Team at Rebecca’s Village or in
Sidari.
Alternatively, if you hire a car, you can visit these
destinations yourselves in your own time.
Coach trip to Kassiopi - Once a
small fishing village, this is now a very popular resort just 30
minutes away with a picturesque harbour and waterfront tavernas.
Swim in the crystal clear water or purchase some of the locally made
lace.
Coach trip to Corfu Town - This
is a must during your holiday. Visit Liston Square, the Old Fortress
and the shops and stay into the evening to enjoy dinner at one of
the many restaurants.
Paleokastrita and Bella Vista -
This is a full day trip by coach to one of the most beautiful places
on the island. The first stop is to a famous distillery known for
its Kumquat liqueurs and wines which you will be able to sample for
yourselves. Following this, the trip heads to the 13th century
working monastery where there is a three hour stop for lunch,
swimming and sunbathing. You also have the chance to visit the caves
by watertaxi. On the way you will be able to view the wonderful
scenery above Paleo at Bella Vista where you can stay for half an
hour. The final stop is Makrades where you can purchase local wines,
olive oil, honey and herbs.
Grand Island Tour - Beginning in
Sidari, this tour will give you a great insight into Corfu. With an
English-speaking guide, you will visit the delightful resort towns
of Kassiopi, Kouloura, Kalami, Nissaki, Ipsos and Dassia and then
onto Mouse Island. From here you will visit the Achillon Palace with
a guided tour of this impressive museum and then onto the
distillery, the 13th Centry museum and Paleokastritsa and finally
the breathtaking Bella Vista and Makrades.
BBQ with the Glass Bottom Boat in Paleokastritsa - Come and enjoy life underwater in the beautiful clear waters of Paleokastritsa. This trip will take you along the west coast of Corfu and includes visit to the caves at Paleo, the Vinti Caves (where the boat is actually driven in) and passes by the stone ship of Odysseus and the eagle’s nest. The boat then continues onto Ermones where you’ll enjoy a wonderful barbeque on this superb beach.
The Fortress Experience - The trip to
the Fortress at Angelokastro takes guests on a magical journey
through traditional Greek villages and beautiful countryside. The
Fortress sits on a rocky hilltop and dates from the Byzantine
period. After visiting the Fortress the tour takes in Bella Visat
with the best views of this part of Corfu.
Mountain Safari, Pantocrator - An
evening adventure you’ll always remember. Take the coach to
Pantocrator, the highest mountain on Corfu. Here you will be met by
the Guide and see the amazing views of the island. This is also an
opportunity to visit the ancient monastery. Your Guide will then
take you to the village of Strinilas for a traditional Greek meal in
a taverna that used to be an olive mill. After dinner take a stroll
through the village and visit the gift shops selling local olive
wood. Then it’s home via the many villages where you will stop at
drink in a local Kafeneon Coffee Shop.
East Coast Cruise - This cruise will
take you to the setting for James Bond film “For your eyes only”.
Starting from Kassiopi and heading down the east coast you’ll stop
at various locations for swimming and sunbathing. On your return
journey, you will visit the submerged Blue Caves.
Sunset Cruise from Sidari - Departing from the Sidari jetty,
you will sail for an hour along the west coast of Corfu passing the
cliffs of the Canal D’amour. While the sun sets,
the boat will dock at the village of San Stefanos where you will
enjoy a meal at a Greek taverna. Traditional Greek dancers will be
on hand to provide additional entertainment.
Aquaparks - For the ideal way to enjoy the sun and the water, Corfu offers two waterparks. Hydroplis is Corfu’s newest waterpark just ten minutes by bus from Sidari with great slides and a pool. Aqualand is a little further away and was a pioneer in waterpark entertainment. It has a range of slides, rides and pools for the whole family to enjoy.
